Exhibiting Ways

What does it mean to be a Christian?  Some may argue being a Christian means to be tolerable.  Others may say being a Christian means to be cordial and polite to others.  Even others may say being a Christian means not to judge others on their race or those less fortunate.  The ways of Christianity are different in today’s language versus the language of yesterday.

We will take a look at a painful history of the United States of America.  In the World of God, being a Christian is someone who is baptized in Jesus’ name and allowing His Spirit to gradually work within you, changing thoughts and desires.

I remember a Pastor who owned a real estate agency.  I will refer to the Pastor as Pastor Mountain.  Pastor Mountain’s closer personal friends and immediate family attended the same church as my friend, who I will refer as Jane.  When Jane had a situation and had to find another place of residence, Pastor Mountain said “let’s pray about it.”   This was an answer heard often by those who are considered as “outsiders” from his immediate circle of friends.  Jane did not have much credit, but the bank approved her with x amount to purchase a home.  Pastor Mountain refused to believe that she had the funds to purchase a good home.  He proceeded to show her homes that need a lot of work and homes that would make anyone, even his close personal friends and family feel humiliated.  Jane received a blessing that no one can even understand, not even me.  One day, her friend came to visit her and a couple of the church members gave her friend a ride.  Jane’s friend told her that they church members who gave him a ride kept slowing down at homes that were not in good shape.”  Once they got to Jane’s home, one of the church members assumed Jane had a lot of money for living in a house in very good condition.  They were amazed and in disbelief.  They judged her because she is of African descent.  How can I say this?  She was the only person of African descent in Pastor Mountain’s church.  They claimed to be Christians.  Pastor Mountain claimed to be a Christian.

Another example would be the Klu Klux Klan.  This organization promotes hate and judges others by the color of their skin and natural origin.  They also claim to be a Christian, yet they kill and harass others as they disguised their identity by wearing sheets and hoods.  This organization is a legal organization, yet other organizations that were made to help others of different races were deemed illegal, such as the Black Panther origination.

Most police officers consider themselves to be Christian, yet some shoot and kill unarmed suspects and plant evidence against others.  Jesus Christ said true Christians would be recognized by their fruits (Matthew 7:20).  Can anyone say the people used in the above examples acted the way Jesus spoke about regarding Christians?  Their harvest bears nothing but hypocrisy.  A true Christian imitates God.  In order the imitate God, one would have to read the Word of God to understand God.

In my journey and travels, most people who claimed to be a Christian actually prove themselves the opposite.  Most women and men in church today shack together instead of doing the correct thing of being married.  Most women and men in church use an abundance of profanity, yet will sing praises to God and kiss their mother or significant other with the same mouth.  Most women and men in church will participate in gang activities, yet pretend they live innocent lives.  Most women and men in church will say Amen, but will participate in pre-marital sex and have children out of wedlock.

Don’t get me wrong.  I am not perfect.  In moments where my temper flies off the handle, I have been known to use a profane word or two.  However, I only called one woman a bitch and that was my ex-wife who cheated on me.  I am human and I had participated in pre-marital sex out of love not lust, and I have not fathered any children from this act of love.  I am proud to say that I have not participated in pre-marital sex in over ten years.  I am not judging anyone, but before others can judge, they must judge their own lives.  Before anyone can say they are a true Christian, they must judge their own actions.

In closing, I would not say I am a Christian.  There are many beliefs that consider themselves and Christians.  Some of these beliefs are Catholics, Non-denominational, Pentecostal, Jehovah Witnesses, Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and many more.  In today’s world, Christianity has a different meaning.  Therefore, I would say I am Spiritual and I am a follower of Jesus Christ.  Please, before you do things to other people and call yourself a Christian, do you believe your actions would justify you in being a “true” Christian?

What We Cannot Say…

At times, people have a way of putting words together that we cannot express ourselves.  I consider myself to be a good guy.  I never said I love you first to anyone.  They usually say it to me, even my family; but they know I love them by the special things I do to show it.

I have not many friends because I had been hurt a lot before.  Some had made fun of me because of my race and culture.  Others had attempt to bully me because of the things my parents had and I was given good things in my life by them.  Even some made fun of me because I would die for my dog, knowing they have a short life span on earth.  I see people take for granted of the little things in life.

Watching YouTube videos most times, I have learned things about myself that I would not have known before.  I have learned what it is like to be homeless with nothing.  I have learned what it is like to be ridiculed and toss around like a bag.  I have learned what it is like to be afraid.  I have learned what it is like to be loved.  I have seen through the eyes of a dog about pain, resentment, and hurt.  I have seen through the eyes of other animals that are hunted for game not as a source of nourishment.

I look out of my window in my home and stare at the green grass and listen to the birds sing.  I look at white butterflies that fly around the home.  I look at my vehicle sparkle as the sun bounces off it.  I look at the wind blowing the tops of the trees.  I look at the high flying hawks and wonder what it is like to be that free.

Afraid of being who I am, there is one thing no one can take away from me, well actually two things.  The first thing is my education and knowledge.  The second thing is how loved I am by family and God.

I will like to share a video with you.  I hope you enjoy it and find it comforting in some way.

A Dedication…

Black Butterfly…

Our role models have passed on.  Our parents have passed on.  Our teachers of life and true history have passed on.  We are stripped of our heritage and our souls have been broken, and many of us by the way we act we even lost our damn minds.  But you… you have endured and for all you do, for all you stand for, for the person that you are, and for being a very strong woman I, Boston Brian, dedicate this song and this video to you.  You are loved more than you will ever know.  Just remember… when you cry, the Lord God is with you.  When you smile, the Lord God is with you.  When you walk, the Lord God is with you.  Just as Christ has risen, you will rise in ways that you would NEVER imagined.  I see it and I believe it!

Matthew 5:10 “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”  Matthew 28:20…”I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Keep preaching sister girl!

Thoughts to Process

You know being an adult; I have noticed a lot of things.  Some of these things are the fact that people don’t really know how to drive and people don’t know how to obey laws.  I was raised to do what is right, even when no one is looking.  I will say that I often wonder why should I do what is right when everyone else get rewarded for not doing what is right?  Allow me to present some examples…

Directional signals. In order to receive our driver’s license we have to pass the rules of the road.  One item on this test is the ability to use directional signals, and back in the 80’s, one would have to use not only directional signals, but have to be able to use hand signals as well.  Many drivers cut in front of me and others without using their directional signals.  Is it me, or as anyone else find it very interesting when a police car is following them, or in the area, people will remember the rules of the road and use their directional signal?  However, as soon as those police officers go their own way, people forget the rules of the road and don’t use their directional signal.  In fact, Those that don’t use their signals are very quick to flick a person off, talk about that person, or have road rage when other drivers do the same thing they do… cutting in front of others and not using their directional signal.

Texting and Talking on the Phone without hands free. Texting while driving is illegal, yet people do it every day.  People put their phone on speaker, yet it is still illegal because they don’t have hands free.  I know of a woman that drives with her phone to her ear and the excuse she gave “they cannot see at night if you are on the phone or not, so what is the big deal?”  Say that to a family that lost their loved ones due to the same situation or due to someone texting.  Again, people know it is illegal and when the police are around, they don’t dare touch their phone.

Right of Way. I have seen people get into fender benders because of right of way issues.  When the light is green and a person is turning on the side of their own traffic, they have the right of way, unless the like turns yellow.  If the light is green and the car is turning across the traffic, they must wait for cars to come the opposite way in order to complete the turn.  So many times the car turning hits the car that is turning the same way, when the one turning across traffic does not have the right of way.

Out of all of this, do you want to know what I really take in from these experiences?  People say they are Christians, yet are they living or exhibiting Christian values?  I am not judging, just pointing out if a person say one thing, they should exhibit that one thing, yes?  Everyone drinks, and I am no exception, but I don’t go over my limit and get behind the wheel.  Even Jesus says everything in moderation.  Having road rage and not obeying the rules of the road when the police is not around; is that being a Christian?  Hating someone due to their race or national origin, is that being a Christian?  My mother has this saying, and I often think of it, which is why I am cursed with doing what is right, even when no one is looking or noticing.  She would say “how can I be a Christian when I cannot follow laws of the land, which most are based on God’s law.”  So how can we claim Christianity when we don’t exhibit what is Christian?

Why We Cry?

There are many reasons why we cry. We cannot understand why, but we do. However, one of the better reasons why we cry, in my opinion, will be listed in this writing.

Of course, not in any particular order. We cry due to:

  • our emotional pain.
  • our physical pain.
  • a movie.
  • our loved ones who have passed on from this life.
  • those we may love and who do not love us back.
  • the passing of our pet animal(s).
  • situations that happens all over the world regarding terrorist attack.
  • others telling lies.
  • historical events that have changed American culture; good or bad.
  • those that have died while protecting their family.
  • our heroes that have passed on in real life.
  • being Baptized.
  • us being Baptized.
  • the movement of the Lord God in our lives and in our bodies.
  • prayer and our prayers being answered.
  • happiness.
  • suicidal thoughts.
  • being bullied.
  • prophecy.
  • anger.
  • many more reasons that could be personal and not so personal.

One reason why we cry is not better than any other. However, in my opinion, one of the better reasons to cry is to cry for those that may not cry for themselves.
